Satu Hovi's homepage
Here at my English pages You will find stories about Ancient Finnish Costumes, my wonderful medieval herb garden and Viking Food in Finland.
I am specialized into historical costumes. My special interests are Finnish Viking Age and Renaissance.
I study past times' pattern drawing and sewing techniques. I teach nålebinding techniques, costume history and the making of ancient Finnish Viking Age costumes. I write books and articles. If you want me to teach or write, please contact me. I write about my Viking and Medieval handwork projects in my new blog Uusiks meni! in Finnish.
I live at Katajahovi manor in Pornainen, about 40 kilometers northeast from Helsinki, Finland. I love to take care of my herb garden, sit in the candlelight with my cats or read novels.
I am one of the founder members of Suomen Keskiaikaseura ry and through it the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA Inc). In this society we do re-live the Middle Ages in a way it should have been, in its best and how we most like it. I am especially attached to listening medieval music, Viking food and drink, medieval gardening and historical novels.
